Down Memory Lane - After the 1998 mid-term elections, Republicans who had
already controlled both houses of Congress suddenly insisted on impeaching
President Clinton rather than wait for the new Congress to be sworn in come
January of 1999. So a truly lame duck Congress impeached a president, but an
elected president is now to be denied the Constitutional responsibility to appoint a justice to the
Supreme Court?
